Hello wonderful friends! Welcome to this brand new section of our website: our blog!

If you don't know us, we're Taylor and Emily, the owners of JTW Photography. Taylor is the eye behind the lens, and Emily is the heart behind the experience. Together we hope to help create lifelong memories through beautiful images that you can keep forever. Thank you for following us on this journey and for allowing us to be a part of your family when it matters most! Today's post is all about one of our favorite mini session offerings we've been capturing for five years: BLUEBONNET FAMILY MINIS

WHY BLUEBONNET MINIS??

If you’ve ever thought about booking bluebonnet family photos, this is your sign. These sessions are short, sweet, and filled with natural beauty that simply doesn’t exist any other time of year. We totally get it - you and your family are BUSY. Between cleaning up toddler messes, going all the places for practices, games, and concerts, and the necessary homework help, your calendar is jam-packed in the Spring! But we so hope that won't stop you from booking bluebonnet mini family photos with us this year! Spring is one of Emily's favorite times of year in Texas. It is truly one of the most visually stunning times of year. The air feels lighter, the colors are brighter, and everything about the season symbolizes growth and new beginnings which makes it incredibly meaningful for family portraits.

Here are our 10 reasons why we think you should book with us for bluebonnet minis this year:

Reason #1: Bluebonnet Season Only Happens Once a Year

If you are a native Texan, or have been around for more than a year, you know that bluebonnets typically bloom for just a few weeks in March and April. That's it. It's a SUPER short window, and when it's gone, it's gone.

Booking a bluebonnet mini session means capturing a fleeting season that is so uniquely Texan, and we honestly love it every time it rolls around!

Reason #2: Spring in Central Texas is STUNNING

In our opinion, Central Texas really gets to show off in the Spring. The light in the Spring combined with the fresh greenery of trees and grass that have grown back after Winter, with (hopefully) milder temperatures and soft skies, and those DREAMY painted sunsets...

Believe us when we say that this setting creates the most perfect canvas for beautiful photos!

Reason #3: Mini Sessions Are Perfect for Busy Families

Our bluebonnet minis are designed to be quick and efficient. They are only 15 minutes, which we know is the perfect amount of time to capture amazing photos without wasting time.

This means less stress for you, fewer meltdowns, and happy kids. :)

We keep it simple, natural, and movement-based so your photos feel authentic, not stiff or overly posed.

Reason #4: Comfortable Weather Before the Texas Heat Arrives

Let’s be honest, summer sessions in Texas can be intense. (and we REALLY don't like making you sweat for photos...) Spring gives us comfortable temperatures, light breezes, happy kids, and parents who aren’t melting - ha! It’s one of the most enjoyable times of year to be outside together, which makes your session much more enjoyable!

Reason #5: It's a True Texas Tradition

Bluebonnet photos are almost a rite of passage for families in Texas. Generations have taken photos in the fields, and we think it’s a meaningful way to document your family’s story in a setting that feels iconic and timeless.

Reason #6: Spring Wardrobes Photograph Beautifully

Flowy dresses, soft neutrals, light pastels, and textured layers look so beautiful against the blues and greens of the bluebonnet fields. The blues and greens create a naturally cohesive color palette that compliment so many outfit choices for you and your family members.

We have made it even easier to style your family when you book with us by offering our FREE style guide! Our style guide includes sample color palettes, outfit pairings, and design ideas to help provide a beautiful and cohesive look for your session.

Reason #7: Mini Sessions are Flexible for Weather

Spring weather in Texas is honestly so unpredictable, especially in Central Texas. One minute it will be pouring rain, the next it will be gorgeous, sunny skies.

That’s why we make sure to be flexible with our scheduling for family mini sessions. If it looks like it might rain on the day of your session, we’ll do our best to move it earlier so that we can avoid the bad weather (unless stomping in puddles sounds fun to you!). And if there’s no way to avoid the rain, don’t worry! We’ll just reschedule for another day that works for you!

Reason #8: To Get Photos of Your Kids While They Are Still Young

This one might sting a little, mamas.

Kids grow up so fast (cue the random lady at Target telling you this as you walk around with your toddler.) That’s why it’s important to get family photos while they’re still young. During your photo session, we capture all the little details that you want to remember about your kids. From their toothy grins to their chubby arms around your neck, these will be photos that you will never regret taking.

Reason #9: We Are Good With the Kids :)

Taylor is a middle school band director, Emily has been an elementary school music teacher and a middle school choir director, and we can both say we LOVE working with kids of all ages!

Taylor especially has many tricks from his photography experience to capture just the best smile and candid photos of your kids no matter if they're young or old(er)! Please know you can trust that no matter the mood your kids may be in, we will do whatever we can to make sure we capture the perfect photos for your family!

Reason #10: Booking is Easy and Stress-Free

We want you to enjoy your family photo session, from start to finish. That’s why booking a session is easy and stress-free. We take care of all the details so that you can just relax and have fun with your family.

Our booking takes approximately 5 minutes and we only require a booking retainer, never the full payment up front. Our booking website is linked below for our 2026 Bluebonnet Minis, and you can see all of our available times and dates there!

More than anything, bluebonnet sessions are about togetherness. Running through a field of fresh blooms, tossing your little one in the air, laughing in the sunlight on a gorgeous Spring day. We believe these aren’t just photos, they’re memories of this exact season of life, and that season changes quickly.

Bluebonnet season is short, and dates fill quickly every year.

If you’ve been thinking about booking Central Texas bluebonnet family photos, now is the time.

We would love to capture this season for your family!
